“David, try and understand - apart from the sex it was platonic”
Jenny defends her illicit affair with Woody Allen logic.
Short plays all about wicked relationships, in and out of marriage… A twilight encounter on the Manhattan riverside and surprise arrivals at a summer barbeque show us men and women grappling comically, frantically, and with glorious imagination in the spiky search for happiness.
The plays share a second subject: Story telling. How does a writer turn life to fiction? The predicaments are hazardously funny and the plotting unexpected and ingenious. Just as in his films, Woody Allen brilliantly balances irony, savagery, and laughter.
Friday 8 October
