By WS Gilbert & Arthur Sullivan
An amateur performance by Southampton Operatic Society
Dates
3 – 7 July
Unrequited love, treachery, mistaken identity, fabrication; it’s all there. Come to the Tower of London and meet Colonel Fairfax the scoundrel, due to be beheaded, and the opportunistic Elsie as they manipulate those closest to them. Meet Jack Point, the hapless jester, as he watches Elsie, his childhood sweetheart, slip from his life.
Yeomen features plenty of wit and humour and one of Sullivan’s loveliest scores. This production has a traditional setting, but with a modern style. If you’re a G&S fan, you’ll love it, and if you’re not, you should be.
